tangerinesforyourthoughts-deact asked: Hi. I don't really know you, and I don't think you know me, but my friend told me to read your blog, and it was amazing.
I'm not a creeper. Haha.
You have really deep thoughts.
Since this is an ask me anything box, I have a question for you.
Do you actually sit and ponder these things, or do they come randomly to you?

Ignorance
Having a debate tonight made me realize how much I value arguing with an open-minded person. I hate ignorance, deeply. I remember a couple of years ago, I was reading the comments section of a YouTube video. Some guy kept making racist comments about China, and so I stayed up until 4 AM exchanging comments with him. I can see how that may seem idiotic, because obviously the guy was just a troll...
______
There’s something indescribably _____ in my mind right now. The word is blank not because I’m trying to hide it, but because I can’t describe it. If my consciousness was an island (one of those tiny sand dunes with only one palm tree growing surrounded by the clear ocean), there would be a shadow in the horizon. I can’t tell if it’s a ship coming or a fish jumping....
Haunted
In one of the dorm buildings at Berkeley, there’s a tiny note that reads: if you had to be haunted by one person, who would it be? My friend pointed the question out and asked me what I thought. I’ve been trying to think of an answer, but it’s surprisingly difficult. For the sake of clarity, I’m going to define “haunted” as constantly present, but not able to...
Language
A thought occurred to me when the student I tutored told me that he could only think in Chinese, and had to translate the ideas into English before putting them down on paper. Can we think without language? Say I asked the question, “how does one bake a cake?” Our most familiar language immediately blurts out in our minds, “start by mixing the dough!” (If that was the wrong...
Ghosts
I’m surprised that some people can convince themselves that ghosts don’t exist. I think I just came off sounding less sane than I had planned, but let me elaborate. I highly doubt that ghosts exist, but I’m definitely not the person who can sleep after a scary movie by convincing myself that they don’t exist. For the same reason, I can’t convince myself that God...
Relativity
We were talking about Eastern religions in AP Lit when Ms.Bradley brought up relativity and how space travelers moving at the speed of light away from the Earth would only age a few decades while Earth itself ages millions of years. It was interesting to think about. What if in a few centuries, we develop the technology for that kind of intergalactic travel? What if at the same time, nuclear...
Clouds
I really enjoyed today’s overcast. Part of the sky was a very calming mixture of cool blues and warm golds. The other half looked like a tidal wave coming down on me. I remember posting before that ominous clouds make me feel good, but I never really explained why. It’s because huge blankets of cloud make me feel very human. There are times when I feel limitless, with the ability to...

Church of Science
I haven’t written in a while, so I’ll take this rare moment of peace to put down some thoughts.
Why isn’t there a church of science? I hope no one takes offense to the question, because it’s out of curiosity, not sarcasm or spite. I mean, it occurs to me from the point of view of a nonreligious person, that a church is a place to both praise your beliefs and strengthen...
On Sinatra on Intelligent Women
I hate reblogging, but I love this quote.
